Van Reyk’s stories

For my father’s 80th birthday, I asked my aunts and uncles and brothers who could not be present at his party to send me a short note remembering incidents from their lives with him. You can read these at Gerard’s 80th birthday stories.

My maternal grandfather, Lawrence Isidore de la Harpe, kept a notebook in which he recorded the births, deaths etc. For those of you interested in that source material, you can find it at Lawrence de la Harpe’s family record.

and then…there were ten is the recollections of my Godmother Margot van Reyk, my father’s younger sister. She wrote this in 1987 and did it in a style of story-telling she says she used to use as a child with her family.
