What’s your favourite film? Mine’s ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’.

Jimmy Stewart plays George Bailey, well-loved banker of Bedford Falls, a man at the end of his tether who gets to see what the world would have been like had he never been born – and a grim old world it is. His guide in this is an apprentice angel named Clarence who gets his wings by helping Harry. George’s lesson in the long run is that each person’s life is immensely valuable and touches many others in ways we never realise. Soppy, but true, eh.

I’m never sure when I watch the film whether I’m George or Clarence. Sometimes I’m one, sometimes I’m the other.

The George side of me is a dreamer and hopeless romantic. He writes, sings, acts, travels and eats his way through life – often all at the same time - while planning what he’ll do when he gets out of Bedford Falls (well, Petersham in my case).

Clarence, on the other hand, is me as life coach and consultant, whose greatest kick is out of getting people to see other options in their life and to explore them. Depending on where you surf on this site of mine you’ll come across one or other of me.

You’ll also come across a big fella with an elephant’s head and way too many arms. Those are his eyes you can see sitting pinkly behind these words right now. It’s Ganesh, the Hindu god who removes obstacles. I’ve grown very attached to him over the years and have adopted him as my home deity. In Hindu mythology, his companion happens to be a mouse (okay, rat). I can’t think of anyone more fitting to watch over me and this site.

So, welcome from me, hope you enjoy your visit. Contact me if there’s anything you find you want to follow up. And here’s wishing Ganesh removes all obstacles in your life, too.
